Delete Facebook Notifications

How to Delete Facebook Notifications

Facebook’s reputation for spamming people has grown. You receive several alerts from the smartphone app. Every day, dozens of emails arrive. And you should expect to receive a ton of brand-new notifications each time you enter into the online app.

Thankfully, things don’t have to be this way. Here’s what you need to know if you want to know how to entirely disable Facebook notifications, erase Facebook alerts, or clear Facebook notifications.

The most crucial issue to address first is how to remove Facebook notifications.

Use the detailed methods below to remove a Facebook notice from the web app:

  1. Navigate to and log into your account.
  2. Click on the Notifications bell in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Find the notification that you want to hide.
  4. Click on the three horizontal dots alongside the notification you want to delete.
  5. Select Remove this notification.

On the mobile app, the procedure to erase Facebook alerts is comparable. Open the app, then select the Notifications tab. Tap the three dots and select Remove this notification after finding the alert you wish to delete.

How to Clear All Facebook Notifications

You should clear your unread notifications as soon as you log into Facebook and see a mountain of them there. The red dot representing unread notifications vanishes when you click the bell icon.

You haven’t actually resolved the issue, though. When you receive a new alert, the notifications will automatically reappear if you don’t clear them. You must mark every notification on Facebook as read in order to permanently delete it.

Strangely, the smartphone app does not allow you to delete unread notifications without first clicking on each one. Instead, you must carry out the procedure using the web application.

Follow the instructions below to mark all of your Facebook notifications as read:

  1. Head to and log into your account.
  2. Click on the Notifications icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Click on the three horizontal dots.
  4. Select Mark all as read.

How to Turn Off Facebook Notifications

The following two sections should have made it easier for you to manage your current Facebook notifications. But just half of the battle is won there. In the future, you must take care to avoid being bothered by all of that notification spam; otherwise, you’ll find yourself right back where you started.

There are two approaches to the issue. As they come in, you can choose to disable notifications for a specific category of alerts, or you can use Facebook’s Settings menu to take a more comprehensive approach.

How to Turn Off Facebook Notifications as They Arrive

The procedure for deleting Facebook notifications is the same as the procedure for disabling Facebook notifications as they come in.

To understand more about the procedure via the online app, follow these steps:

  1. Type into your browser and log into your account.
  2. Click on the Notifications icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Find a notification that you want to turn off.
  4. Click on the three dots.
  5. Select Turn off notifications of this type (the exact wording may change depending on the type of notification).

(Note: You will also have the option to turn off all notifications from this page if you are turning off notifications from a page.)

By opening the app, tapping on the Notifications tab, and choosing the three dots next to the relevant notification, smartphone users can see the same list of options.
