In order to properly control your privacy on Facebook, let’s quickly review some of the most important privacy settings you should be aware of.

Basic Facebook Privacy Settings For Every Facebook User

Here are the Facebook privacy settings that every Facebook user should be aware of. They are crucial to your Facebook experience, and if you have any questions about Facebook privacy settings, please let us know in the comments section and we will respond. Let’s begin with the fundamental settings;

1. Accessing The Privacy Settings & Tools Panel:

While some Facebook settings can be accessible through other channels, the majority of them can be accessed through the Facebook ‘Privacy Settings and Tools’ page. They let you modify most of the things that matter to you on Facebook, such as who may contact you and who can search you up using your phone number and email address.

Simply click on the drop-down “lock icon” (the small arrow pointing downward) just above the top right corner of your Facebook home page, then click on ‘Settings,’ then look up to your left to see “privacy” among the list of menus; click on “Privacy,” and then select your desired privacy settings.

2. Audience Settings When Posting:

You may choose who sees your Facebook postings by using Facebook’s audience management feature. This means that when you write a Facebook post, you may choose who can see it: ‘Public,’ ‘Friends,’ ‘Groups,’ or ‘Custom’ (Specific individuals). You can also choose whether or not such posts are visible to anybody other than yourself.

To select the audience while posting, simply compose your post as usual, then click the drop-down icon to the left of the blue “Post” button to select the audience. Decide and select the audience you want to see the status update from the drop-down menu (Public, Friends, Only Me, Custom).

3. Controlling Timeline And Tagging Settings:

This Facebook Privacy settings page allows you to regulate who may post to your Timeline and who can view what is posted to your Timeline, as well as how you are tagged in posts and tags suggestions.

To regulate who can add or publish things to your Timeline, who can see things on your Timeline, and to manage tags individuals add as well as tagging settings, go to the Timeline and Tagging settings. Simply seek for “Timeline and Tagging” under “Privacy” (as explained above) and click on it to change your Timeline and tagging settings.

To change a setting, simply click on the “Edit” button at the right end of any matching choice.

4. Controlling Personal Information:

Every Facebook user’s “About” area discloses the majority of their personal information, including gender, date of birth, occupation, education, family members, and more. This necessitates adjusting who has access to some of this personal data.

Simply click the “About” tab underneath your cover photo while on your Timeline to control who sees the information in the “About” section. Then, in the top-right corner of the section containing the information you want to alter, click the gray “Edit” button, followed by the Audience selector, which is placed directly to the right of the information. When you’re finished, select an audience from the drop-down menu, and Facebook will save your changes automatically.

5. Hiding Your Friends, Followers And Following Lists:

While on your Timeline, select the “About” area underneath your cover photo to make your Friends lists private. Scroll down to your friends list, select Edit Privacy from the drop-down menu by clicking the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of your friends box. Then decide whether you want your friends list to be public, solely available to your friends, or only visible to yourself. You can even use the Custom option to designate specific people. Follow the same procedure for your following and the things you’re interested in.

6. To Create Custom Friends Group

Simply select “Groups” from the menu on the left side of your Facebook home page to establish a custom friend group (News Feed).

Now give the group a name and invite friends by typing their names or email addresses.

Then you choose the level of privacy for your group, which can be “Close Group,” “Public Group,” or “Secret Group.”
